The Trekinetic K2 dispenses with the old tubular chassis and uses a carbon fibre monocoque instead. BMW is to introduce a stop-start system - which cuts the engine when stopped and restarts it when the driver's foot comes off the brake - from next year. Tesla Motors, a San Carlos start-up that is building a high-performance electric sports car, has raised $40 million in a third round of venture capital from a group of investors including VantagePoint Venture Partners and Elon Musk, co-founder of PayPal.
At its F1 headquarters in Switzerland, the German squad last month unveiled Europe's fastest industry computer, which is three times quicker than its predecessor 'Albert'. BMW announced today it would be equipping select 2007 models with Real Time Traffic Information. Provided by Clear Channel's Total Traffic Network to 44 major American cities, the service will be available on the 3-, 5-, and 6-Series models, as well as the X5, M5 and M6.
