As we reported earlier last month on rumors of the RUF Electric Porsche Cayman, RUF has actually been developing a prototype RUF Electric Porsche 997! It currently features a 204hp (150kW) electric motor producing 650 Nm (480 lb-ft) of torque.
German tuners RUF are currently working their little nut sacs off developing an electric version of the Porsche Cayman! It will most likely compete head on against the Tesla Roadster and will be unveiled sometime in October 2008.
The new RUF variants of the Boxster or Cayman will be called the 3400K. It will get 400 horsepower which is 105 horse power bonus over the standard Porsche models.

Body
Body build in steel, aluminium and kevlar-carbon. Rollover protection in A-pillar and in birdcage. The birdcage forms a torsion resistant unit with the front chassis by joining to the sill beam and the A pillar.
CTR3 is the latest in RUF's super-tuned arsenal and is based on a 911 frame. The CTR3's performance figures are staggering, all 690 horses peak their charge @ 7000 rpm racing the 3,251 lbs machine to 60 in 3.2 seconds, top speed of 235 mph.
The high revving normally aspirated engine is based on the crankcase of the original 911-engine. It is equipped with dry-sump lubrication with a separate oil tank to ensure a reliable oil supply for the engine even at high cornering speeds. The 3.8 litre engine has a high compression ratio of 12.0 : 1. The output of 445 hp (327 kW) is reached at 7,600 rpm.
While the first two CTR generations still had their engines in the rear, the new CTR3 has a mid engine design. However, one thing that the CTR3 has in common with its two predecessors is that it is a pure driving machine. The CTR3 is made to involve the driver in the driving experience
