This Sunday will mark a sad day for fans of Bernd Schneider, as the legendary 44 year-old DTM driver has announced that next week's race in Hockenheim will be his last. The news marks the end of a 17 year racing career between Mercedes-Benz Motorsports and Bernd, during which he was able to win a total of 43 out of 226 DTM and ITC races for the team and capture both an ITC championship and five DTM championships. No DTM driver has ever been more successful.
In Hockenheim yesterday, the 2008 DTM season drew to a close, as did the championship hopes for Mercedes' Paul Di Resta. Going into the race, Di Resta had narrowed the lead between himself and points leader Timo Scheider of Audi to just two, but after a hard fought race, it would be Scheider that took the victory, giving Di Resta the runners-up position in both the race and the driver's title.

Lewis Hamilton has been promised a $4 million McLaren supercar for free - if he wins the world titles this year. The 23-year-old British driver told The Sun newspaper that he first clapped eyes on the ultra-rare McLaren LM in the team’s F1 factory ten years ago.
