Peugeot announced its decision to accept a new technological challenge: to win one of the world’s most prestigious and demanding motor races, the Le Mans 24 Hours, with a car powered by an HDi diesel engine equipped with a diesel particulate filter system (DPFS).
Peugeot, as an environmentally conscious manufacturer, has made the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions a key priority. In keeping with recent Peugeot models, the 308 was designed with the protection of the environment as a key requirement. This has been achieved through the use of technology solely dedicated to improving its environmental efficiency.
The Peugeot 308 is set to make its official debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September. Peugeot buyers will be delighted to see that the Peugeot 308 looks just like a scaled-up version of the popular Peugeot 207 supermini.
Back in October we covered the 1.6 turbodiesel 207 with its 110bhp, and were seriously impressed by the in-car technology, the safety systems, and the big-car feel. But looking back, I see that my review described the diesel engine as "competent without thrills".
