One of the most dominating Corvettes in auto racing history was sold over the weekend at Gooding & Company's Pebble Beach Auction for an astounding $1.485 million. Grady Davis' Gulf Oil Racing Team purchased the Corvette in 1962 from Yenko Chevrolet. In 14 races, the Gulf Oil '62 Corvette finished first in class 12 times including wins at Daytona and Sebring and captured the 1962 A-Production Championship.

A new smart lubricant, which forms protective films when it encounters two surfaces rubbing together, replaces over a pound of oil with just one hundredth of a pound of the new substance, according to a presentation. While its inventors do not believe it can replace standard motor oil in vehicles, it may someday replace the oil used to test engines and mechanical systems.

According to a report, an independent oversight body which monitors the world's oil supplies sees that production has leveled-off. The demand though on developing countries like China and India are just gearing up.
