GM on Sunday has posted a You Tube video that shows what can happen if the U.S. auto industry would fall. The video indicates the industry is faced with an “imminent collapse” that could lead to the loss of 3 million jobs in 2009.
Today GM finally presented its 2011 Chevy Cruze compact sedan and released a set of hi-res photos of the vehicle's interior. Frankly speaking, I'm impressed.
We had a feeling GM was sandbagging us with the production specs of the 2009 Corvette ZR1 back in December. 620 horses is equal to one hundred horsepower per liter they told us. Revised specs in the Spring, we heard. Well, it's unveiling time at the Museum's C5/C6 Bash and GM finally makes the Supercharged LS9 6.2L V8 power specs official: The new 2009 Corvette ZR1 produces 638 horsepower and 604 lb-ft of torque.
Keep in mind the Volt only debuted in 2007! For a large American company to go from concept to production in less than 2 years during a time of desperation really goes to show how motivation can really turn a company around.
Someone sent GM's Bob Lutz a photochopped Corvette ZR1 decked out in Michigan State Police graphics and featuring the prerequisite light bar, bumper guard and awesome blacked out wheels. Without regard to notifying the PR department who were baffled by the incoming calls from new media outlets, Bob uploaded the image to GM's Fastlane Blog.
The next Saab is due to arrive in dealerships by 2009. According to the folks at CAR magazine which claims that the Saab will be unique from the humble British Vauxhall.
Corvette's ZR1 was spotted yesterday at the Nürburgring. Reports that the weather has been warm and dry over the previous days has brought out Team Corvette and their supercharged 638 hp Corvette ZR1, this time dressed in red. Eyewitnesses speculate that GM may have been looking for a lap time as he "spotted a helicopter chasing something that sounded very V8 and awfully supercharged..."
Chevrolet Dealer and Corvette Collector Dave Ressler was in Bowling Green yesterday to accept delivery of the first retail 2009 Corvette ZR1. Ressler is well known for buying the 6.2 liter supercharged Corvette at January's Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction for $1 million. The special one of a kind Corvette features a unique VIN and will be the only one painted LeMans Blue.
GM has released a batch of official photos of the 2009 Corvette in conjunction with the 2009 Corvette Pricing Schedule and we're pleased to see its the new Blade Silver Metallic, RPO code 17U. Blade silver replaces the popular Machine Silver which graced Corvettes from 2004-2008.

This 1970 LT-1 ZR-1 Corvette Coupe sold for $102,000 at the Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach auction in March 2008. The ZR-1 package inluded a 350 ci 370 LT-1 V8.
