The upcoming 3-series coupe will have an M-Sport package available for it, helping to fill in the gap between the 335ci and the upcoming V8-powered M3. Mostly an aero package with different wheels and a rear spoiler.
Photographer Brooks Uhrig \227 member of the SB Euro Club discussion forums \227 snapped several great photos of a 2007/2008 BMW M3 coupe prototype in testing in Santa Barbaraa. These are the first photos we\222ve seen of the new car, which is now wearing less disguise than ever

BMW presented the racing version of the new BMW E92 M3 at the 2008 Chicago Auto Show. Powered by a 485 bhp eight cylinder engine, this impressive race car has been designed to compete in the American Le Mans Series (ALMS) from 2009 onwards.
Spotted crisscrossing Death Valley, California, in 120-degree heat, the M3 prototypes in joshinthecity\342\200\231s exclusive spy photo have ditched it\342\200\231s heavy camouflage in favor of a few well-placed pieces of tape. Up front, you can now clearly see the more aggressive airdam and power dome hood. We\342\200\231re pretty sure the M3\342\200\231s trademark quarter-panel vents are hiding under the taped-on covers, too. Bulging fender flares are another M3 specialty, along with the set of quad pipes out back.
Vorsteiner has recently attempted to recreate the tweaking of BMW CSL models, which pumped out extra power and were more exciting to drive. Why not leave the CSL to BMW? Well BMW’s M Division chief Ludwig Willisch apparently recently revealed the company wouldn’t be building a CSL version of the current M3 because there wasn’t enough projected demand for the car.
Lumma Design is reportedly preparing a fresh appearance package for the new BMW E92 3 Series Coupe. The kit will presumably be employed to create a heavily tuned version of the new BMW M3 Coupe.
The 335d will generate 313 horsepower post-upgrade, a figure that's complemented by a rather asphalt-shredding 463 lb/ft of torque at only 2000 rpm. The turbocharged 335i will see its output bumped up to a healthy 380 hp.
According to Autocar the upcoming E92 BMW M3 V8 will be available with a 7-speed double clutch gearbox. This is not a revision of the previous models SMG which was considered at best a flawed driving experience. It sounds as though the new 7-speed is similar in concept to Volkswagen’s brilliant DSG.
As it comes closer to releasing the vehicle, the disguises become increasingly thin. The new BMW E92 M3 Coupe will be available next year with a V8 engine and SMG transmission.

BMW’s trump card in the two-door sedan segment is the 3 Series coupe. This elegantly proportioned model lends itself perfectly to accentuating its sporty appeal by adding new details. HAMANN from Laupheim also shares this opinion and adorns the 3 Series coupe an aerodynamics kit, power boosts, new wheel rims and a stylish interior.
The new BMW E92 M3 V8 follows BMW’s other M engines, which is to take a small engine and develop power through high RPMs. Torque is ordinary, but the throttle and valvegear is BMW’s usual magic allowing higher RPMs. This engine needs to be wound out to make power.
“The new M3 pulls in 6th gear like most cars would pull in 2nd or 3rd. It’s an F16 fighter jet with four wheels and no wings. I was sitting, just cruising at a comfortable 70 or so mph in 6th gear when I decided to push the limits. I pushed the gas to the floor, and at 2000 RPM roughly, the car moved to 100 in nothing.”
The entry level consists of a reprogrammed engine control unit which results in an additional 15kw/20hp and 25 Nm of torque. Just in case you don’t already have the M3’s figures etched into your frontal lobe, the S65 4.0litre V8 makes 414 hp (420 PS, 309 kW) and 295 ft-lbs (400 Nm) of torque. Top speed increases to 300 km/h.
