Safety is the most important of the Mercedes-Benz brand values. And, as such, it is the focus of the new-generation Mercedes-Benz Travego high-deck touring coach, which marks the world premiere of the Active Brake Assist (ABA) system in the bus and coach sector.

In total, more than 80 vehicles from Daimler will be on display including a number of world premiers, all of which "embody leadership in innovation in terms of safety, environmental compatibility and economic efficiency."

Daimler today has released statistics detailing the success of BlueTec technology in the commercial vehicle segment. In total, approximately 160,000 Mercedes-Benz heavy trucks, buses, Vario vans and Setra buses have been delivered since the technology was introduced in 2005 - over 90 percent of which already meet the Euro5 emissions standard

It's been nine years since the world was introduced to the Mercedes-Benz Citaro at the UITP Congress in Stuttgart, and to date, nearly 15,000 models of the regular service bus have been sold. Although certain details have been modified over the years, the Citaro has remained largely unchanged, a clear symbol that the original Mercedes' design was a successful one.

The award was given after a jury comprised of editorial teams from 15 different countries conducted extensive rounds of testing and driving, after which they determined the Citaro LE Ü was the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world... at least the bus world.
