It's the news Corvette Racing fans been waiting to hear. An Aston Martin DBR9 will be launching an American LeMans Series GT1 effort in 2008. The team will be funded by Jim Bell and will race under the Bell Motorsports banner.

It is official, Audi has announced it's driver lineup for the Petit Le Mans. In car #1 Capello/McNish/Pirro and in Car #2 Luhr/Werner. Capello and McNish sucessfully won the 24 Hours Of Le Mans this year, and hope to dominate without mercy in two weeks.

The Supercharged 650 hp Corvette ZR1 made a surprise visit to Laguna Seca in Monterey today, completing a couple of hot laps with Corvette Racing's Johnny O'Connell behind the wheel.

Last weekend during a practice lap at Mid-Ohio Raceway the 009 Aston Martin ALMS went airborne off the track and "flew" 142 feet before landing off the track in the dirt. The track was reportedly wet and the unidentified driver lost control under braking. Fortunately his car was the only one on that part of the track at the time and it amazingly remained level during its separation with terra firma.

The much-hyped Corvette ZR1 with its supercharged 650 hp LS9 engine did two hot laps around the track at Monterey's Laguna Seca before heading back to the pits. An American LeMans series cameraman captured the action.

The Corvette Racing team announced this year's 2008 American LeMans Series campaign will be fueled by E85 ethanol, a high-octane blend of 85% ethanol and 15% gasoline. With the switch to E85, the C6.R's becomes the latest in the Corvette family to go green.

Corvette Racing announced that they will be returning both factory backed GT1 Corvette C6.R's to the American Le Mans Series in 2008. In addition to the ALMS 12 race series, the team will be competing at the 24 hours of Le Mans.

Honda Performance Development is leveraging its involvement with the Indy Racing League to launch a three-team effort for the 2007 ALMS season. IndyCar veterans Fernandez Racing and Andretti Green Racing will join the Acura LMP2-class effort, along with Highcroft Racing.

Testing for Acura's 2007 American Le Mans Series program got off to an excellent start this week with a successful two-day test at Arizona's Firebird International Raceway. Lowe's Fernandez Racing and driver Adrian Fernandez completed more than 250 trouble-free miles of testing Tuesday and Wednesday on the 1.25-mile Firebird East circuit, utilizing the new Acura LM V-8 engine fitted to a Lola B05/40 chassis and running on Michelin competition tires.

The much talked-about Ron Fellows ALMS GT1 Champion Z06 Corvette will make its debut at the Chicago Auto Show later this month GM announced today. Confirming the rumors that started late last year, the signature Z06 Corvette features the Z06 with Artic White exterior, red interior and the long standing red driver side GT1 hash marks that first appeared 11 years ago on the limited edition Grand Sports.

GM may be building the first "special edition" Corvette of the C6 era, a Ron Fellows Edition Z06 Corvette. The special edition Z06 is Artic White, a first-time color for the Z06, and will feature a fender stripe, high polished wheels and a wide racing spoiler.

Familiar faces in different places is how Corvette Racing refers to their drivers for the 2007 ALMS season.

Although Corvette Racing's championship-winning C6.R hasn't turned a wheel at the new Miller Motorsports Park, Chevrolet's factory team has already completed hundreds of virtual laps around the 4.5-mile circuit in an effort to gain an advantage over its rivals.

Acura unveiled photos of an Acura-powered race car. It will be an engine provider for LMP2 cars next year, and will eventually develop its own factory LMP1 chassis and engine.

Drivers Tom Kristensen, Allan McNish, and Rinaldo Capello took the #2 prototype diesel car to the finish line to win the 12 Hour race, despite a start from pit lane, and answering the question of long-term reliability. BMW Team PTG announced today that Martin Jensen of Smoerum, Denmark will join BMW of North America's American Le Mans Series GT2 effort as the team's fourth driver. Jensen drove with the team at the season-opening 12 Hours of Sebring in March and will co-drive the No. 22 BMW Team PTG M3 for the remainder of the year with Justin Marks.

Audi becomes the first manufacturer to win an internationally recognized motor racing championship with a car powered by a diesel engine.

Savvy driving, smart race strategy and spot-on execution propelled Corvette Racing to a 1-2 finish today in the GT1 class in the American Le Mans Series Generac 500 at Road America. Ron Fellows and Johnny O'Connell scored a popular victory in their No. 3 Compuware Corvette C6.R with a one-lap margin over the No. 4 Compuware Corvette C6.R of Oliver Gavin and Olivier Beretta.
