Someone sent GM's Bob Lutz a photochopped Corvette ZR1 decked out in Michigan State Police graphics and featuring the prerequisite light bar, bumper guard and awesome blacked out wheels. Without regard to notifying the PR department who were baffled by the incoming calls from new media outlets, Bob uploaded the image to GM's Fastlane Blog.
Nissan and GM have both released press statements and videos bragging about their amazing lap times around the northern loop of the Nurburgring. Much debate and speculation has exploded into the authenticity of each vehicles “ring runs” between Nissan’s GT-R (Godzilla Awakes on Steroids) and Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 (King of the Road).

Well, it's unveiling time at the Museum's C5/C6 Bash and GM finally makes the Supercharged LS9 6.2L V8 power specs official: The new 2009 Corvette ZR1 produces 638 horsepower and 604 lb-ft of torque.

In what could only be described (and is being marketed) as the opening salvo in the new muscle car wars, the first 2009 Corvette ZR1 will be offered up for sale at the Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction held mid-January in Scottsdale, Arizona. Corvette's ZR1 was spotted yesterday at the Nürburgring. Reports that the weather has been warm and dry over the previous days has brought out Team Corvette and their supercharged 638 hp Corvette ZR1, this time dressed in red. Eyewitnesses speculate that GM may have been looking for a lap time as he "spotted a helicopter chasing something that sounded very V8 and awfully supercharged..."

Chevrolet Dealer and Corvette Collector Dave Ressler was in Bowling Green yesterday to accept delivery of the first retail 2009 Corvette ZR1. Ressler is well known for buying the 6.2 liter supercharged Corvette at January's Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction for $1 million. The special one of a kind Corvette features a unique VIN and will be the only one painted LeMans Blue.

Competition is always stiff and for engineers of the respective nominees, bragging rights for winning the world's best engine is the crowning achievement following years of development and testing.
Last month as the Corvette ZR1 was making tracks around the Nürburgring, Corvette's Chief Engineer claimed the ZR1 will beat the track record for production cars at any road course in the world. We have since learned that Team Corvette is expecting a lap time of "seven minutes, twenty-something seconds."
Despite a decrease of 40 Corvettes or so over last year's totals, and especially the lack of big block 1967 Corvettes, the auction still pulled in slightly over $11 million in Corvette sales.
The first Corvette ZR1 to hit the dyno was this Cyber Gray car which had all of 30 miles on her. The bone stock SAE adjusted number came in at 530 rwhp and 508 ft-Lbs of torque. After making some tuning adjustments, we see the SAE adjusted numbers rose to 567 rwhp and 532 ft-lbs of torque.
As part of GM's housecleaning of the famous Heritage Collection, several rolling chassis are being made available for public sale including this unique 2008 Corvette ZR1. The chassis will appear on the block at the 2009 Barrett-Jackson auction which kicks off next week.
