A couple of hicks in a Toyota truck start picking on a driver of a Z4 for not signaling. They start following him, with the BMW driver providing the appropriate hand gestures. Through construction zones and dirt roads, this video ends in a most unexpected way.
BMW has apparently put together a prototype lightweight coupe called the Z29. Based on the Z4, the car is said to weight just over 2,500 pounds. It features the same engine as the Z4 M and M3, and is built of aluminum and carbon fiber. 0-62 mph takes around four seconds.
Every year, Z3 (and now Z4) owners make the trek to Spartanburg, SC, where the cars were made. This year, TC Kline Racing brought their Carbon Coupe, based on the BMW Z4 M Coupe. Z3 owner, photographer, and attendee Doug Richardson took some nice photos of the "TRAK STR."
TC Kline Racing recently completed development of its \221Carbon Roadster\222 \227 a re-skinned BMW Z4 covered entirely in carbon fiber. Based on the Z4 M, the car has the 346 horsepower engine from the M3 coupe. It weighs just 2,680 lbs \227 that\222s 400 lbs less than the standard Z3M, and 700 lbs less than the M3!
The S model isn't really designed to compete against the Ms, but Top Gear makes it clear that they really aren't competitors at all. The Porsche Boxster S is very well-mannered, but the M Roadster is most fun when you let it hang a bit loose.
Some interesting insights have been brought to light by these first-ever top down shots, leading spy shooters at KGP Photography to suspect that the car is in fact a prototype for the less-expensive Z4, a car which many sources pegged as growing to provide room for an even smaller, cheaper convertible (Z2?).
The annual west coast meet of Z3/M Coupes took place at Half Moon Bay, CA this past weekend, with about 50 Coupes making the trek. One of them was a Z4 M Coupe -- a press vehicle that made the trek up from San Diego.

Fascinating video tour of the Spartanburg, South Carolina BMW plant where Z4s are manufactured. The video covers everything from the initial subassemblies to final inspection in a very efficient process. A little cheesy at times, but worth the 15 minutes.
The Z4 and M Coupes will be available in dealerships in early summer. As with the Z4 Roadster and X5 Sports Activity Vehicle, all Z4 and M Coupes will be built exclusively at BMW Manufacturing, the company's only U.S. manufacturing facility in Upstate South Carolina.
The guys at C&D didn't expect much from the BMW Z4 M Roadster they drove, having expected less from previous Z4s they drove. They loved the engine, but overall thought that the Boxster delivered a better sporting experience.
TC Kline Racing has taken a BMW Z4 M roadster and faithfully reskinned it entirely in carbon fiber, effectively shaving 500 lbs. off of the car's weight in one very expensive fell swoop. It still looks like a Z4, but with much larger fender flares to accommodate giant 19-inch wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tires.

It all comes down to what you want a car to do for you. If you're looking for something with bags of potential (which you might not neccesarily ever use) and enough in-your-face styling cues to show that you have deep enough pockets to spend more than the next guy, the car to go for in the BMW Z4 Coup\303\251 range is undoubtedly the M model. If you want something that's good to drive, forget the M and go for the 3.0 Si instead.
Bayerische Motoren Werke AG has received more orders for its new Z4 Coupe sports car than originally anticipated, according to Ulrich Bruhnke, head of the carmaker's BMW M GmbH unit. 'New orders until now have already exceeded our expectations,' Bruhnke told journalists last night at the launch of the Z4 Coupe. He declined to give any details, such as specific order figures.
With increasing pressure from competitors in the two-seat coupe market, BMW has priced the Z4 M Coupe aggressively. The base price will be $49,300 and will have some options available, suggesting a greater production volume than the previous version.
Great music and a great car are, for many, critical ingredients for the ultimate driving experience. BMW is no exception. Now, the exceptional sound quality of BMW audio systems has been acknowledged by THX Ltd., the world\222s leading developer of technologies and certification programs for the entertainment industry.
The new BMW Z4 M Coupe won praise from Top Gear columnist Tom Ford, who says \223it\222s an old-school streetfighter; a little bit scary but all the better for it.\224 Unlike other recent \223M\224 products from BMW, the 343 horsepower Z4 isn\222t diluted by excessive gadgets and technology, he says.
From Artist Robin Rhodes and Filmmaker Jake Scott as well as Team BMW; we are given the opportunity to see something TRULY remarkable, a PAINTING made by a last gen BMW Z4 and the 2010 BMW Z4!
