Photographer Brooks Uhrig \227 member of the SB Euro Club discussion forums \227 snapped several great photos of a 2007/2008 BMW M3 coupe prototype in testing in Santa Barbaraa. These are the first photos we\222ve seen of the new car, which is now wearing less disguise than ever
Spy photographer Hans G. Lehmann caught the 2007/2008 BMW 3-Series sedan sans disguise today in Germany. The car is almost certainly a 335i turbo model. The car was first spotted driving up and down a mountain road with a disguise over the front end.
A quick run-down of the demographics for the 3-series customer, as written by BMW for its salespeople. No real surprises, but it is nice to see the information collected in one place.
It looks like the new M3 sedan, spied here in testing, will have an identical (or nearly-identical) front fascia as compared with the coupe version, according to speculative discussion by M3post.com members.
At midday on 16 June 2006, BMW Plant Leipzig saw the 100,000th BMW 3 Series roll off the assembly line since production launch on 1 March 2005. The BMW 330i in Titanium Silver metallic was destined for a customer in the German state of Saxony-Anhalt. This first major milestone was achieved ahead of schedule \226 impressive confirmation that the Leipzig manufacturing plant is living up to its forecast efficiency.
Hartge has done this a few times before -- put the M5 engine in a 3-series. They managed to do it again with the E60 M5's V10 engine, tweaked to 550 hp, with the 7-speed SMG transmission.
BMW has released an interesting video showing its manufacturing process from start to finish. The cars being built are the E90 3-Series sedan, and as you will see, some pretty cool manufacturing processes are used. See BMW being welded, glued, and bolted together.
Someone at a shipping facility seems to have caught this test mule E90, but with an improvised tape-and-plastic hood, large front discs, quad pipes, and a big sticker in English that claims it is approved for high speed tests. One theory is that it just came back from the US after high-speed tests in the salt plains. Either they're just testing the drivetrain, or the M3 sedan is for real. Or both.
Although we still think that its price (about 208.000 USD or 157.000 EUR) is ridiculous, it’s as hot as aspicy "Schinkenwurst"! I have no idea who the driver is but as you’ll see for yourself, this guy surely cooks his sausages with a 0W-30 motor oil... We remind you that both Hartge H50 V10 models are equipped with a tuned 5.0 V10 M5 engine producing 550 Hp.
We're thrilled to be living in a world with choices, and BMW certainly provides them with its T218 hp 2.5L 325i, 272 hp 3.0L 330i, and 306 hp 3.0L 335i, makng the latter the fastest new 3-series, at least for the moment... we're also pleased to report that the M3 will have a 400 hp V8 when it goes on sale next year.
With the recent teaser photos posted of the Nissan R35 GTR Modified by Wald International, here is the new 2009 BMW E90 3 Series Modified by Wald International.
We haven’t seen a four door M3 for some ten years now so its interesting to see how BMW have styled the new four-door bahn-stormer. Not expecting much, it is a pleasant surprise to see a car that combines four door practicality with the pent up aggression of the M3 coupe – in fact, I almost prefer the styling of the sedan.
The BMW 3 Series was voted the 2006 "World Car of the Year." The multiple-award winning 2006 BMW 3 Series received its latest kudos in an awards ceremony held in conjunction with the New York International Automobile Show.
BMW is using video podcasts to feature the latest BMW news, including this introduction of the new engine. Available in QuickTime, sized for PSP and iPod, and, of course, RSS-enabled.
